A Way to Count Blessings

Lately I’ve really been working on my thought life and trying to change it from negative to positive. One way to do this is to list out the blessings in your life. Yesterday, I thought of a new way to do this.

Fill in the blanks: If it wasn’t for _______, I wouldn’t have _________.

If it wasn’t for Alison, I wouldn’t have bought the Thirty Day Shred and found a sustainable workout for a busy mom.

If it wasn’t for Nicole, I wouldn’t have heard about Cheryl Lange and my philosophy on education for my children would look vastly different.

If it wasn’t for Katie Niles, I wouldn’t have started reading Galatians and found the immense freedom in Christ that I’ve somehow been missing for most of my life.

You can even use this as a way to be thankful for the negative people in your life. For example: If it wasn’t for that one person that overlooks everything I do and makes me feel small and unimportant, I never would have found the nerve to believe in myself and champion my own dreams and the dreams of others who have been overlooked.

Or another example: If it wasn’t for that one person who tried to take away my creative expression, I never would have taken myself seriously as an artist, or grown in my determination to use my artistic voice.

What tips or tricks do you have for maintaining a spirit of thankfulness in your life?
