Sabrina Ward Harrison has this great quote about how you need to “Create what you most need to find.”
I was journaling about it. Here’s my list:
- A book that does not say what almost every other Christian book says. Find a new way to say it. A way that makes me and others come alive.
- A book that is raw, so I can breathe. Real enough to say what everyone is wishing someone would say.
- A book that makes peace, once and for all, with mess, with mystery, with “up-in-the-airness.”
- A book that is not censored by approval (or lack-thereof)
- God outside of church, outside of my past, outside of the box I know Him in
So I ask you, what do you most need to find and how will you create it?

Maybe you are to write that book!
Thank you, friend.
This list looks very much like one Iwould write. I love lists! I think that quote is perfect for those of us who get lost or have problems locating the things we desire most. There’s a quote that says,”The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet”(Frederick Buechner).I’m interested in these type of locations, but I’m also pursuing the things that cause this meeting in me.I believe we are called to something great and we need it as much as those who will benefit from what we do.
I love that Buechner quote! Thanks for reminding me of it. I have yet to read a Buechner book, but I really want to. Too many books on my reading list right now though. Someday.
Love your thoughts here! “Pursuing things that cause this meeting in me.” Those are beautiful words.
You need to write this book. You are an amazing writer! I need to find balance, peace, and a creativity outlet I am drowning in life and losing myself.
