Why We Dye Easter Eggs

Zoe asked me why we color Easter Eggs. I told her I wasn’t sure. That it was just something fun to do.

She said, “I think it’s because when the eggs go down into the dye they are boring and when they come back up they are beautiful and a brand new creation. Just like when Jesus died and then came back to life, so we could be new creations.”

I looked at her stunned, and then replied, “And THAT, is from now on, the reason we color Easter Eggs.”

She smiled.

WOW. That’s genius. Gotta’ love that childlike faith. Why is it so hard for us adults to think like that?

It’s great that you didn’t make something up so she had space to answer and we heard her beautiful thoughts!

From the mouth of a child come words of wisdom.

That’s such an awesome answer! Only a child could come up with that!
