Angela, I'm so glad to hear "be" was such a powerful word in your life last year, and how it showed up any so many different facets of your life. As for "break free" of course you can choose two words. It's whatever you need it to be. And if God is telling you to Break Free, I wouldn't get in the way of that. :) The only Beth Moore study I've ever done is the Breaking Free one, and I can still remember a scripture I memorized. I picked the word "free" for myself in 2008, the very first word I ever picked for a year. If you ever need encouragement on the word, you can click on the "FREE" category on the left hand side of my blog. I wrote about it a lot that year, and it continues to be a part of my journey. I think our words never really leave us, they just become a part of us. I also would highly suggest reading Galatians. I've been reading it for a few months now, and I can't believe how much freedom it is giving to me. It is liberating, if we can just manage to wrap our hearts and souls around the message. I'm sorry your hear started with a horrible event and pray for freedom to pour forth this year.

Last year you inspired me to chose "BE" that word was a phenominal experiance! It was awe inspiring when my church ended up doing a HUGE series on the verse "be still" and everyone was given bright yellow braclets with BE on them.

So ive been stuck the last week thinking what my word this year is. My year started with a horrible event that is still lingering. I keep dwelling back to the negative of it and am struggling to break free of it. The womans ministry leader at church is recommending beth moores study... breaking free to help me with whats happening. I think God is giving me my word... "Break Free". (two is okay, right?)

Kimberly, I'm so excited for you. I too feel a lot of anticipation for this year. I think we are all on an incredible adventure! It will be interesting to see all the ways the word "persistence" speaks into your life.

Mandy,

I've been reading your blog on and off, and you've inspired me to find my own word for 2010. I already posted a blog about my word @ my new blog (eskimoh.tumblr.com), but my word for the year is persistence. The Holy Spirit is filling me with excitement and joy at this years journey.

Kara - I'm glad you had a great year of experiencing jubilee and hope expectation is equally as rich in your life in 2010. I'm honored to be a small part of your focused life!

Karen - Love it that you're picking two words because you "need them both." It's so cool how you've making this challenge personal and just what you need. Nesting and nurturing are such warm words and I think you already embody them in so many ways. Can't wait to see the journey unfold for you.

Anya - I am so proud of you. I think worthwhile is an incredible word, and I can't wait to cheer on your victories as you lean into God this year and find your deep value. You are going to leave 2010 a totally different woman.

Luke, Cori and Christina, I'm going to go read about your words.

Thanks everyone for sharing. I LOVE the power of words and love to see how we're wrestling with and challenging and embracing ourselves on so many different levels for the new year. Seriously cool.

My word for the year is "worthwhile." The definition says it means sufficiently valuable to justify the investment of time or interest. I think it's time I saw myself in that light. I know I'm valuable to my Heavenly Father, so I think I'm sufficiently valuable to invest time in this year. Time spent growing closer to the Lord, improving my health, and becoming the confident, inspired wife, mother, and artist that I know I can be.

Thanks for inspiring me over the past year, Mandy. Can't wait to see what the next year brings! :0)

expectation. (oh the depths and levels I get to explore spiritually and personally with this one!) Thanks for inspiring focus in my life, Mandy. What a beautiful tradition you've birthed! I value immensely last years word (jubilee)...all year long I got to see the Lord expose new facets of it. So fun! On to the next, with continued appreciation for the past.

Natalie, believe is a great word. I might steal it from you. Ha! Actually it plays into the word I think I'm picking. So I'll enjoy reading about your journey with this word and the interpretation you bring to it.

Laurel and Ang, thanks for the encouragement. I have a lot of thoughts brewing about my blog and my writing and sharing in 2010, so it means a lot to hear you say you enjoy reading here. I enjoy the conversations and perspectives that a wide variety of readers brings to the discussion. Helps balance me and sharpens/challenges my thinking.

Sherry, what a neat word to pick, and so cool how you already see it in so many different contexts. Excited for the growth you are going to see in 2010!

Amber, off to read about your word now!

Shalae, I don't think you can bomb on your word. No matter what, you learn something from just picking a word and wrestling with it for a year. I think when the year ends you don't leave your word behind but it becomes a part of you. In my opinion, you can't "mess this up." This whole picking a word thing...it's what you make of it. It's what you need it to be. It's not a pass/fail challenge, it just weaves in and out of your life and every now and then you'll catch a hold of your word again and learn something from it. I bet you've learned more from you word then you're giving yourself credit for. And here's to a new word for 2010!

For the first time I feel drawn to a word. I recently statred journally in ernest and it has opened up so many questions AND answers. My word will be reflect. I am seeing more when I look back at things and when I look at HOW things reflect off and through me. It is going to be a growing year.
Love you,

I'm still on the fence. I have a couple but I need to figure out what will be best. I'll {hopefully} blog about it soon. :)

PS: I hardly ever comment on your blog since I read it in my email, but just want you to know I read every single one and I always love getting a little peek inside your life. :)
