Adding to the Already Made

I had already been thinking about making my sister an apron for her birthday, but wasn’t looking forward to all the time I would spend on it. (No, that’s not a picture of my sister. It’s my daughter modeling the apron.) My windows of time are so limited that I knew it would take me several days to sew an apron from scratch.

You can imagine my joy when I found the perfect little apron ALREADY MADE at an antique store and for a price I could afford.

I added a little stitched owl, some buttons and some love (XOXO). The owl was a cute pattern from a class I took last year from Elsie.

I’ve decided I’m okay with adding my own creative touches to things that are already made. In fact, it’s quite fun to breathe new life into something old or unused. I wonder if this has anything to do with one of my strengths – RESTORER?

I love this Mandy! I am totally into restoring things lately, partly b/c they have lived-in character and also b/c it’s “green”, which in my mind is a way of saying that you make more use of God’s resources that are already processed instead of consuming more new materials. Cute apron!

Thanks Vanessa. I’d love to hear about some of the stuff you’ve restored.
