I was reading this great post by Rachel and it got my brain turning. How many times do we hear people say, “I would do _____ if I just had more money.” Or, “I would do this _____ if I just had more time.”
I wonder about that list of things we all put off because of no money or no time.
What if it’s possible to achieve them, if we just had a little patience, a little discipline, a little less of a rushed spirit?
What if we actually did get more money and more time. Would we be prepared to be good stewards with it?
What if the better question would be “What would you do NOW with the time and money you do have to get you a little closer to those dreams?”
Or as I heard a friend say recently, “How do we make you love what you’re stuck with, so you can be content with it until it’s time to move on.”
I’m getting tired of excuses in my own life. I think it’s far too easy to come up with them. I’m not suggesting I become perfect. Ha! We all know that’s impossible. But I am suggesting I could be a bit less stagnant and a bit more purposeful. I want to be creative in my problem-solving. I want to stop thinking that money and time would solve everything. I believe in a God who owns it all anyway. What would He say to my dreams?
Much like Rachel, I want to think less about someday and more about today. Technically, today is all I have anyway. What can I do today to get me a little closer? Sounds like I have some journaling to do.
