As a therapist that currently works with struggling children and families, I wish more people really took to heart their decision to have children and the awesome responsibilty that comes with raising them. Moreover, being able to step back, assess, and make changes in your parenting is so essential. Thanks for being open enough to put it all out there.
You are an amazing and powerful woman!
Mandy you have no idea how much I relate to this right now. The last couple of days and been so rough with this exact problem. The sassiness, the attitude…. the last half of today has been rather trying with this. In fact as I’ve been sitting here trying to get my frustration and emotions under control as I’ve been battling kids going to be bed, being obedient and being sassy, I’ve been praying in my heart how do I help them, how do we change this…. it’s been something I’ve also been thinking about lately, and realizing that it all stems from me. It IS SO HARD to watch myself all day and to figure out what to say, how to react etc, when they sass back. I know how I respond has a huge consequence. I was getting ready to just head to bed, but thought to turn on the computer, and check the blog and saw yours. I’m so glad that I did. Monday nights are really tough, but I’m going to try hard to be there tomorrow because I SO NEED this!
Thank you Chandra.
Sorry Monday nites are bad for you Shalae. We are in such similar seasons of life aren’t we? I don’t know why i get surprised whenever you say you are going through the same thing I am. I guess I just feel all alone in my struggles. We’ll get through this! We will get better. Hope you feel encouraged that you can change. I know I get encouraged just by knowing I’m not alone in this. Nice to know I have friends and fellow-moms striving to do better as well. Love ya girl!
