I’m going to write a book. At least I’m going to try. Because I’ve always wanted to, and I think I’m supposed to, and now feels like the time.
I was so inspired by Blue Like Jazz. So ready to put my many thoughts into words. Scared out of my freaking mind at some points too. But ready.
If anyone has thoughts they’d like to share with me on the following questions, you can email them to me or just post them as comments. Any input would be great. I especially would appreciate comments from people who wouldn’t call themselves a Christian.:
What comes to mind when you hear the word Christian?
How would you define the word Christian?
Is there a certain person or people you associate with that title?
Is there a certain stereotype you associate with that title?
Have you ever been hurt or jaded by a Christian?
Would you ever use the word prideful to describe Christians? If so, why?
Do you consider yourself a Christian?
What do you desire most out of life?
Trust me, no criticism here. Just want your honest answers. The whole premise of the book is that I may be wrong about some things I thought were true about being a Christian.
The photo is of some brainstorming I did when I was trying to decide whether or not to jump into writing a book. While drinking a Jones I did an art journal page to try and get my thoughts together. I’m also planning on using a moleskine to write most of the book. I just can’t see myself staring at a computer screen for anymore hours of my day then I already do. And my moleskine can come with me everywhere.
So, here’s to evenings curled up with pen and paper. Here’s to dreaming big and going for something way bigger then yourself!

This helps tremendously Jen. Thanks so much for taking the time.
Hope this isn’t too late.
What comes to mind when I hear Christian? hypocracy usually
Definition: Someone who accepts Jesus Christ as the messiah and son of God. Or atleast tells people they do.
Stereotypically I see a christian in my mind as an old woman with a plastic cap over her hair, dressed in her sunday best and fanning herself while a preacher wails in the pulpit.
I have been hurt numerous times by a christian. I remember for example, a woman I worked with asked me how I could believe in such a crock of &%^$ (Judaiasm) and if I realized I was going to burn in hell. Not a very “christian” thing to say in my opinion.
I would use the word prideful often to describe christians. Especially the ones who do horrible things all week and think that the slate gets wiped clean when they go to church for 45 minutes a week and veg out. Or people who use it to get people to like them. Like their heart aren’t in it. Just want a way to belong but not interested in the deeper aspect of it.
I am not a Christain, no.
I desire happiness, healthfulness, and peace in life. I believe in God, and I do pray.
An added thought here, I always hated the Chrisian perspective that if you have not accepted Jesus as your personal savior you can not go to heaven. How many zillion people out there do not know what Christianity is, or if it is the right thing? I don’t believe a loving God says that if you make the wrong decision, then you are bound for damnation. That is just silly. As long as you try your best to be a good person and help other people, I think God will reward you no matter which denomination if any you choose. I also hated the negativity of the struggle. You are bound for hell from birth and you spend your entire life trying to make up for it. They make life seem like it is just a horrid thing you have to put up with until you can go to heaven. I think the world is a wonderful place. Can’t we live in the now?
Anyways, hope this helps a little Mandy.
